August 24, 2009 Leave a comment

For Madhuri Dixit dance is more than just an art. It is a device to tap into one’s deeper core. Madhuri Dixit has shown her nimbleness at dance in many a Bollywood movie.

She returned to film industry after a hiatus of five years with another dance-based film Aaja Nachle sometime back. Aaja Nachle’ was the tale of a woman who returns to her small town in India after living many years in the US and finds her dance school in ruins and her guru on a deathbed. Thereafter, she takes it upon herself to revive the culture of dance in the town of her birth. Not just for her role in the movie, Madhuri in reality believes that dance is a very good way to “tackle stress” and “re-energize oneself” in today’s hectic times. And more than that Madhuri believes “dancing awakens spirituality”. So strong is Madhuri’s dedication to dance that it has a special place in her future, even though her plan for movies in Bollywood is still tentative. The diva says she plans to return to Kathak seriously. “Getting back to kathak…And when I say that, I mean getting back very seriously. For me, kathak is not a hobby, it’s not like I’ve learnt it for a couple of years or so. For me, it’s a part of life,” Madhuri has quoted somewhere herself . Madhuri also reveals that she has plans to set up a Kathak school someday.

Anil Kapoor is brilliant like always says Madhuri

anil and madhuri

Anil Kapoor, Madhuri’s co-star, who got that deserving accolades for his role as the host of a game show in television. Madhuri said, “Anil Kapoor is brilliant, like always. Considering we have given so many hits together, I was genuinely happy for his achievements. I admire and respect him a lot for his dedication to his work. I am probably one of the few people who’s seen Anil work really hard.

Sometime, I envy him. Even today, he has the same enthusiasm, and gusto towards work. And to top it, he has maintained himself so well, that is a feat. The way he has chosen his roles and , is noteworthy. I have learnt that one has to be good in your craft no matter how bad or boring the job is. He taught me that our performance is everything.

Anil for me will always be this big moviestar. What I really like about him is his enthusiasm for everything. Even on the sets he would be full of excitement. Recently it was heartening to see him, like a child jumping with joy when we won the Golden Globe award and the rest of the awards. I wondered why everyone was surprised. That’s him. He has always been like this. He wears his excitement on his sleeve and why not? Isn’t there a saying , happiness shared is double happiness? We all feel happy but we are scared to flaunt it for the fear of being judged by people around.

Out of the many films we did together, my favourite film with Anil has to be Tezaab and Pukar, as we got a lot of scope for performing. Probably he was one of those rare actors who I was in sync with my my thoughts and performances on screen. We really hit it off very well, were looked upon as a good onscreen pairs, because we had a great off screen rapport too.

“Amrita” Madhuri-alike for Anil

Madhuri

Well for Anil Kapoor, Amrita Arora is Madhuri alike and she brings that innocence on-screen as her. It was time to get nostalgic for the
upcoming release ‘Short Kut – The Con Is On’ producer when he was casting for the role of the leading lady in his . For his own production, he wanted the casting to be just perfect and he believes that he got it just right the moment he saw Amrita Rao.

“I saw Madhuri (Dixit) in Amrita (Rao). Not just does she have a little resemblance to her, she also bears innocence similar to her as well”, says Anil Kapoor who has worked in a dozen odd films with
Madhuri Dixit in last couple of decades.

Amrita bears the kind of vulnerability that just goes well with the character of Mansi that she plays in the film.

Talking more about what impressed him most about Amrita, Anil Kapoor says, “I had seen her in some portions of Vivah and was very impressed. I knew then and there that this was it. For someone who looked very Indian, very conservative, and came with the kind of family look that was required for the role, Amrita was an apt choice.”

There’s No Fear In Me-Madhuri Dixit

June 27, 2009 2 comments

Madhuri Dixit

Critics panned Madhuri Dixit‘s comeback vehicle Aaja Nachle as did audiences, but Madhuri Dixit is unconcerned and says she was never worried about a film’s box office performance.

With theatre as its backdrop, the film revolves around Madhuri who returns from New York to her hometown to revive the local Ajanta theatre. The actress has some memorable dance sequences in the film despite being out of practice.

“With two small kids it’s very difficult to continue dance. And I was pregnant half the time that I’ve been married. Out of the five years I was away I was pregnant and then looking after my kids. So after ‘Devdas’ I hadn’t danced at all,” said Madhuri.

There’s no fear of failure in the actress. Madhuri is just happy that something different has been attempted in her comeback film. There was no hero in the film. Madhuri Dixit has worked with terrific directors and choreographers in good subjects.

In Aaja Nachle Madhuri Dixit was working with Vaibhavi Merchant who’s an ardent fan of the actress. But in Aaja Nachle there were so many actors shooting with Madhuri all the time. Aaja Nachle was a film about the erosion of our tradition and culture. The movie addresses the question of tradition and modernity.

Still people haven’t forgetten Madhuri dixit.

Tezaab should be remained untouched

June 24, 2009 1 comment

Madhuri Dixit, the dhak dhak girl of bollywood, denied being the part of the remake of N Chandra’s Tezzab, the film which made her a sensation in the bollywood. Madhuri Dixit is of the opinion that films like Tezaab should be left alone as they are master pieces and can never be re-made successfully. After all old is gold.

The original magic will never return to a remake as was the case of Shah Rukh starrer ‘ Don’, which was a remake of the Amitabh Bachchan- Zeenat Aman’s ‘ Don’, but failed at the box office.

Earlier in an interview Madhuri said, ‘I don’t think I would like the Tezaab to be remade. There are some films which should remain untouched. No one has approached me to do a cameo in the film. As far as I know, it’s not a remake but a sequel to Tezaab. It’s a different movie.’

However, as Madhuri Dixit was leaving for the US, after a three-month-spell for Yashraj FilmsAaja Nachle, she was very excited about her working experience with Yash Chopra. Madhuri’s working with the unit was like working in the family. There were no bitter feelings or negativity around the set while working with co-stars.

Salman wishes to have Mads on Dus Ka Dum

madhuri

Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit have made a brilliant on-screen pair in hindi films.

But to their fans disappointment, this charming duo has worked in merely three films Saajan (1990), Hum Aap Ke Hai Kaun (1994) and Dil Tera Aashiq(1993) and other film in which they were not paired
opposite each other was Hum Tumhare Hai Sanam (2000). Shahrukh Khan was paired with her in the same.

This was probably the last time Salman and Shahrukh Khan came together in a film also.

Now years later, when Madhuri has left the industry and is settled in USA as an anonymous domestic lady, back here Salman wishes to have her on his TV show Dus Ka Dum as the celebrity guest.

Now this will mark her comeback on TV after last time she appeared in Big B TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati.

Madhuri look-alike TV actress Niki makes a comeback

Indian actress Madhuri Dixit

Nikki Aneja, now Niki Aneja Walia, who has always been termed as
television’s Madhuri Dixit is making a comeback, and here is she
speaking about the similarities she shares with the great actress..

Nikki Aneja Walia who created waves with her sensational performance
in Ananda Telefilms’ Astitva Ek Prem Kahaani is all set for her
comeback with Ajay Sinha’s yet another show, Ghar Ek Sapna on Sahara
One.

It does not come as a surprise to Nikki when one addresses her to be
television’s Madhuri Dixit Nene because of various similarities.

Talking about the similarities she finds between herself and the great
actress, we can easily make-out the looks. The two are married abroad.
They have similar smiles, and have done films with Anil
Kapoor
.Remember Mr.Azaad???

Niki is living with this identity since 16 years. Now one more
similarity gets added to the kitty, mainly because Madhuri balances
her professional and personal life by making frequent trips between
U.S.A. and Mumbai, while Niki will be doing the same between U.K. and
Mumbai. She also has to leave her kids there and same is the case with
me. Neither like to be here alone without her children nor Niki.

Since years she have been the Madhuri Dixit of small screen and she
likes it that way.

There are surely similarities between the two, but now it is to be
seen how Nikki fairs in her second innings on TV.

Hope not exactly like Madhuri…Aaja nach Le was not a rage!!!
